During All BAS Solar & Star Parties BAS gives out Hand-outs that were provided by "Astronomy Magazine" The handout was Your guide to THE MOON by Robert Burnham.
Members & Friends: We had so many Telescopes of all kinds It was a sight to see The weather on the other hand was Cloudy most of the night, But when we had some sucker holes, we were able to observe the Moon, The Orion Nebula, Canis Major with Sirius, M41, Mars was so tiny, Saturn, and a few others, most of them were washed away by Moon wash , At times we didn't even need a filter for the Moon The clouds took care of that. The people still came no matter what, Thanks to BAS member Shaofu Chang we passed out some plastic trash bags to all the scope volunteers Just I case It started to rain. At times I looked pretty BAD, When it was Cloudy the public would stand around John Smalls Laptop to check out the Astro images he has taken with his telescopes. BAS member James Mc Adams also had a Lap top. We had a strong showing from the (MAS) Melbourne Astronomical Society. Thanks guys! We reminded and passed out flyers about Astronomy Day April the 24th at BCC Cocoa. Fl. from 1 pm till 10 pm A bunch of people said they were coming! Check out this awesome finder map of Venus and Mercury , We will be able to see both planets 45 minutes after dark, all you need is a flat Western Horizon, ( no building, Trees, Mountains, Clouds, Smog, etc....) to be able to see Mercury, Thanks to Sky & Tel Magazine. Enjoy: Star Hunter Sifuentes
This was the last group of Girl Scouts. They enjoyed observing and learning some of the Constellations, Nebulas, Open Clusters, double Clusters, and the Planets Venus, Mars, and Saturn. After that they had to pose for a picture in front of the BAS banner.
The Girl Scouts took a photo in front of the BAS banner. They had a great time observing different objects in the night Sky! All you could hear them say was Oohhhs, aahhhhss. and That's COOOL!
