Hello Members and friends:

This years Mims Science Fair Star Party took place at the rear of the school on the Parking Lot, The Skies were Blue and clear, not one cloud in the sky, Temperature in the mid 50's and the Moon was looking oh so nice. What made it even better for observing, Dan Bell the point of contact for Mims had  all the Parking lights  turned OFF, The Moon shine was just right, you could easily make out where all the scopes and tripods were at, with no fear of tripping in the dark.   The students, parents and teachers really enjoyed gazing at different objects through our telescopes. With the Moon putting on a great show, Mars was beaming, as was the Star Sirius.
We helped Cathy a teacher from Mims set up a couple of beginner telescopes, the school district bought for them. Everyone got a chance to see the Moon from different size scopes and Ann had her binocular observing chair there too. We used green lasers to point out different constellations, The laser is always a crowd favorite.
It was good to hear the kids as well as adults say the famous word "WOW" and how cool Is that? You never get tried of hearing the  oohs and ahhha, They even fed us hot Dogs, hamburgers, and drinks. They took very good care of the BAS volunteers. I want to thank the following persons that helped out at the Star Party. without them this would not be possible.
Mr. Wyck, Rory Duncan, Roy Uyematsu, Ann Micklos, Brad Bryon, and  Cathy, If I missed any body, please forgive me,  I was to busy at my telescope. The Star Party ended at 8:30 pm.  I took a few pictures of BAS members setting up scopes,  and kids looking through my telescope, If any body else took some pictures, please share them with the members.
Thank You so much for your support!
Oscar BAS Out Reach Coordinator.
